The Oman Equestrian and Racing Federation has officially announced the winners of the traditional horse sports competition, Al Ardha, for the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 seasons.
The annual competition results were revealed during a prestigious ceremony held today at the Oman Olympic Academy Hall, under the patronage of Sayyid Mundhir bin Saif Al Busaidi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Equestrian and Racing Federation.
The 2022/2023 season concluded with the Wilayat of Jalan Bani Bu Ali claiming first place, followed by the Wilayat of Bahla in second, and the Wilayat of Al Kamil and Al Wafi securing third.
In the 2023/2024 season, the Wilayat of Al Qabil emerged victorious, while the Wilayat of Jalan Bani Bu Hassan and the Wilayat of Bidiya placed second and third, respectively.
Al Ardha is a unique and deeply rooted traditional horse sport in the Sultanate of Oman, celebrated for its historical and cultural significance. The Oman Equestrian and Racing Federation plays a vital role in preserving this tradition by organizing several Al Ardha events across the country.
These events are conducted in collaboration with equestrian clubs and committees in various governorates and wilayats, showcasing the Federation's commitment to promoting Omani heritage through sports.
The competition has gained tremendous popularity across the Sultanate. The federation is looking to to maintain and expand interest in traditional equestrian sports, which hold a special place in Omani culture.
