Former interior minister and leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Rana Sanaullah, stressed the urgent need for the swift formation of a government in the interest of national security.
Speaking on Samaa TV talk show “Nadeem Malik Live”, Sanaullah acknowledged the likelihood of a coalition government formed by PML-N, the Pakistan People's Party (PPP), and MQM.
He criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for refusing to engage in dialogue with certain parties, suggesting they should focus on forming a government if they have the numbers.
The former interior minister asserted that the priority should be preparing to govern in the best interest of the country. He highlighted the critical role of a functional government in advancing national interests, emphasizing that without a government, progress becomes challenging. He also expressed concerns about alleged rigging in JUI and KP.
Providing an update on political developments, the PML-N leader shared that 22 independent candidates have joined PML-N, and some PTI-supported candidates prefer to remain independent. In Punjab, where 149 candidates are required for government formation, PML-N boasts a count of 156 candidates.
Reflecting on the challenges faced by Pakistan, he mentioned foreign powers being restricted from assisting the country. He lamented the disruptions caused by sit-ins, meetings, and processions, even after the commission's findings.
Sanaullah recounted the events following the 2013 election, highlighting the alleged interference by external forces and their attempts to control the political narrative.
