The Ramadan moon has been sighted across Pakistan, including Lahore and Peshawar. Consequently, the first day of fasting will commence tomorrow.
Abdul Khabir Azad, the Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, has officially announced the sighting of the Ramadan moon. He confirmed that the first day of fasting will begin tomorrow, while the first Taraweeh prayers will be observed today.
The Committee convened in Peshawar to observe the Ramadan moon, with Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad presiding over the session at the Awqaf Hall on Charsadda Road. Similar meetings were conducted by Zonal Committees in Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, and Quetta.
The main meeting saw the participation of committee members, representatives from the Meteorological Department, SPARCO, and the Ministry of Science and Technology.
Simultaneously, the Non-Governmental Crescent Sighting Committee held its session at Qasim Ali Khan Mosque, chaired by Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai.
Meanwhile, a separate meeting of the Non-Governmental Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, headed by Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai, is being held at Qasim Ali Khan Mosque.
It is pertinent here to mention that while the Ramadan moon has been sighted in Gulf states, including Saudi Arabia, marking the commencement of fasting, East Asian and Oceania states await the first sighting, with fasting scheduled to begin on March 12.
