Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi chaired a high-level meeting in Islamabad, where he announced stringent measures to combat electricity and gas theft across the country.
Special teams have been formed to carry out crackdown operations, and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has been tasked with leading legal actions against those involved in such criminal activities.
During the meeting, Minister Naqvi emphasized the need for swift and decisive action against those responsible for electricity and gas theft.
He was also presented with a report detailed by the FIA on the Greece boat accident. Minister Naqvi directed the FIA to investigate and bring to justice the individuals responsible for the accident.
He also ordered the officials concerned to ensure action against those involved in human trafficking, and urged authorities to tighten the noose around individuals engaged in hundi/hawala operations.
Furthermore, the meeting addressed the pending promotions of FIA officials, with Minister Naqvi urging for an expeditious resolution of these matters. He instructed that pending promotion cases should be disposed of within one month to ensure swift justice.
He also emphasized that taking action against hundi/hawala operations would contribute to the appreciation of the rupee, underscoring the economic benefits of cracking down on illicit financial activities.
