Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez held a crucial meeting amid the ongoing deliberations over a letter written by six Islamabad High Court judges about external interference in judicial matters.
According to sources, Prime Minister Sharif was accompanied by Attorney General for Pakistan Mansoor Usman Awan and Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar during the meeting with the CJP being held in the latter's chamber. The Supreme Court registrar and senior judge, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, also participated in the meeting, which lasted for an hour and 20 minutes.
The PM and the CJP reportedly deliberated on the letter of the six judges of Islamabad High Court. Various options, including setting up a judicial or inquiry commission, were also on the agenda, the sources added.
The prime minister assured the judiciary of all kinds of co-operation, including an investigation into the matter, the sources added.
The meeting comes in the wake of a full court session convened by CJP Isa on Wednesday, specifically to address concerns raised in a letter by six judges of the Islamabad High Court.

The letter's contents were thoroughly reviewed during the session, with all participating judges scrutinizing its constitutional and legal implications. The session also encompassed discussions on the legal and constitutional implications following the publication of the letter.
The session, which lasted for an extensive two hours and 12 minutes, saw active participation from all judges, each contributing their opinions regarding the matter at hand.

As per reports, another full court meeting, presided over by the chief justice of Pakistan, is likely to take place today. This session is expected to delve deeper into the contents of the letter, with further review and consultation among the SC judges.
The bar associations of Islamabad High Court, Lahore High Court, Sindh High Court and Balochistan High Court had on Wednesday demanded the CJP hold a “transparent inquiry” into the matter, and that legal action be taken against those involved.
In a press release, the IHCBA said its cabinet “strongly condemned the interference of one institution into the matters of another institution".
