Lahore High Court Chief Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmed Khan has become the latest recipient of a threatening letter, raising concerns about the safety of judicial officials.
According to the Registrar's Office of the Lahore High Court, the letter received by Chief Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmed Khan contained both a suspicious powder substance and threatening content.
This comes after four other judges of the Lahore High Court, namely Justice Shujaat Ali, Justice Shahid Bilal, Justice Aliya Neelam, and Justice Abid Aziz, received similar threatening letters in recent days.
In response to these threats, forensic teams, along with officials from the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and the police, have been dispatched to the Lahore High Court to conduct a thorough investigation.
Preliminary reports suggest that the powder found in the letters sent to the judges may be anthrax, although the definitive nature of the substance will be confirmed only after laboratory analysis.
The safety and security of judicial officials are paramount, and authorities are taking all necessary measures to ensure their protection in light of these concerning incidents.
