Bangladesh pacer Hasan Mahmud appealed for mankading Ish Sodhi in the 46th over of the second ODI against New Zealand on Saturday. However, skipper Liton Das withdrew the appeal.
The action keeps Bangladesh's history of not opting to run batters out at the non-striking end intact.
Replays showed that Sodhi was out of the crease when Hasan took the bails off, but Das decided to give him a second chance.
Sodhi went on to score 18 runs in the next 13 balls to help New Zealand reach 254.
The ICC changed the rules in September last year to allow mankading, but there are still many cricketers and fans who believe that it is against the spirit of the game.
