Punjab Finance Minister Mujtaba Shuja Ur Rehman in conversation with the media giving context about POL price hike said prices of petroleum products have increased exponentially at the global level an government is trying to keep prices as low as possible.
Arguing price hike would not affect as much people who would be benefited by the decreasing the price of roti, he said: “The number of people who use petrol is very less than those who eat roti.”
“The price of roti has decreased by four rupees. The arrival of the new wheat crop this month will further reduce the price of roti. Despite increasing the price of bread to Rs16, tandoor owners are making profit,” the finance minister of Punjab said.
Punjab has fixed the minimum support price (MSP) of wheat at Rs3900 per maund and action will be taken against those who artificially increase prices.
