Maryam Riaz Wattoo - sister of former first lady Bushra Bibi - has called for accountability of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawyers over their silence on crucial legal matters.
Speaking on Samaa TV's program 'Nadeem Malik Live', she expressed concerns over the apparent inaction of PTI-affiliated lawyers in key cases, particularly the ongoing Iddat case.
Wattoo highlighted that despite repeated court dates, PTI lawyers have not been actively pursuing the party's interests in the case.
She stressed that the silence of prominent legal figures within PTI, including Hamid Khan, Latif Khosa, and Ali Zafar, is particularly troubling. Vito urged voters to hold these lawyers accountable for their lack of engagement and transparency.
Regarding the legal proceedings,Maryam Riaz underscored the need for PTI lawyers to take a more assertive stance, especially in light of recent developments such as judges' letters.
She lamented the lack of significant action following such critical communications from the judiciary.
Furthermore, Vito addressed the misconception surrounding the imprisonment of PTI's founder, expressing confidence in his eventual release. She emphasized the importance of a long-term strategy for the party's leadership, cautioning against any notions of replacing the founder in haste.
The sister of Imran Khan's wife also emphasised that those incarcerated are not merely PTI workers but individuals with families and ties to the state.
She asserted that no one should have intentions to harm the state and called for a more compassionate approach to understanding the plight of those affected by legal proceedings.
