As intermittent rains persist across various regions of Pakistan, heavy downpours have been forecast in the Potohar region, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir.
The Met Department in Islamabad has also predicted the possibility of snowfall on the northern mountain ranges.
In Islamabad and surrounding areas, partly cloudy skies with heavy rainfall and strong winds are expected, while Kurram and Waziristan may experience rain accompanied by strong winds and thunder.
Additionally, there's a chance of rain in Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, and Sialkot. Balochistan is likely to witness light rain with thunder in Zhob, Musakhel, and surrounding areas.
However, the weather is likely to remain dry in most parts of Sindh.
Unfortunately, the inclement weather has resulted in a grim toll of casualties and destruction in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) report, 46 people have lost their lives, with 60 others sustaining injuries in accidents across different districts.
Among the casualties were 25 children and nine women. Moreover, 436 houses have been completely destroyed, while 2,439 have suffered partial damage due to rains and floods. The devastation extends to livestock as well, with 309 animals reported killed.
The flood situation in KP has exacerbated the crisis, affecting several districts, including Khyber, Dir, Chitral, Swat, Mansehra, Malakand, Tank, Mardan, Peshawar, Charsadda, and Nowshera. The PDMA is actively engaged in relief efforts to assist affected communities and mitigate further damage.
As the adverse weather conditions persist, authorities are urging citizens to exercise caution and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety. Efforts are underway to provide relief and support to those affected by the floods, with emergency response teams on standby to address any escalating situations.
