The US Department of State has expressed grave concerns over human rights violations in India, as detailed in its bi-annual report.
The report highlights measures taken against minorities in several states, with particular emphasis on serious violations reported in Manipur state.
According to the report, from May to November last year, a staggering 175 people lost their lives and 60,000 were displaced in Manipur. Furthermore, instances of rape of women and attacks on places of worship persisted, adding to the alarming human rights situation.

Extrajudicial killings and attempts to suppress citizens abroad were also documented in the report, underscoring a troubling trend of state abuses against minorities. "The state abused laws against minorities," it detailed.
The report further highlights the ongoing violence in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and other troubled areas, indicating a broader pattern of rights violations.
Of particular concern is the negligible government action against these violations, as noted in the report. Despite the mounting evidence of human rights abuses, the report suggests that the Indian government's response has been inadequate.
The findings of the US Department of State's report underscore the urgent need for India to address the systemic issues contributing to human rights violations.
