Opposition party Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) members became active to get the slot of Chairmanship of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
Opposition members SIC Zain Qureshi, Sher Afzal Marwat, and Hamid Raza met with the Speaker of the National Assembly (NA) and discussed issues related to the formation of parliamentary committees in the meeting.
Sources claimed the opposition suggested the name of Hamid Raza to the Speaker for the chairman PAC.
In the meeting, the Speaker of the National Assembly told the opposition lawmakers that the Chairman PAC would be elected as per the rules. “I want the parliamentary committees to resolve the issue through understanding,” the Speaker told the members.
SAMAA TV quoting sources reported the opposition delegation also met the parliamentary leader of Muslim League-N Khawaja Asif.
NA clarification on PAC chairman appointment
National Assembly secretariat issued a clarification and maintained no appointment had been made and there was no authenticity in the appointment of Sher Afzal Marwat as the chairman of the PAC.

The legislatures hold the executive accountable for the use of public funds and this function is performed by one of the standing committees of the Parliament that is called the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
