The federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi denied any differences with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and said those who were looking for differences between him and the premier would be 'disappointed'.
He said a decision will be taken soon regarding the crackdown against illegal Afghan residents. The minister announced Necta will be fully operational. Naqvi acknowledged people are getting passports after a delay of up to five months.
“I am aware of the passport issues and will fix this department soon. I believe in the sanctity of the households,” he told media persons.
“As Chief Minister and Home Minister, he never gave orders to the police to misbehave with women at home,” the home minister claimed in response to opposition parties' allegations of Naqvi's abuse of power when he was the caretaker chief minister.
Sharing an update about the security of the Chinese, he said work has started on an emergency basis on the issue of the security of Chinese residents in Pakistan.
On a question about his relations with the prime minister, Mohsin Naqvi said he has had a relationship with the Prime Minister for 25 years and PM Shehbaz is like his elder brothers.
“Our brotherly relations also have a friendly nature based on respect. I don't know what and how people talk. But these talks do not make any difference to me. Our relationship is strong and will remain strong,” he emphasized.
Visa policy for Sikhs
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said he is a supporter of independent visa policy.
“I want Pakistan visas to be made easier for Sikhs,” he added.
Commenting on his portfolios, Naqvi clarified if I had to choose between the Interior Ministry and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), he would prefer PCB.
He visited the Islamabad Police Facilitation Centre.
Speaking to the media after participating in the function to keep the facilitation center active 24 hours.
He said, "I wish that Sikhs should be given the facility of visa on arrival in Pakistan. In the first phase, this facility should be provided to other countries outside India. It will be for Sikhs. In the second phase, facilities will also be provided to Indian Sikh citizens.”
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said that work has been started for the establishment of a forensic laboratory and a prison in the federal capital.
Talking to the media persons in Islamabad today during his visit to the Public Facilitation Center, he expressed the commitment to bring down the crime rate in the capital territory.
He said the police stations of the capital will be transformed in three to four months. He said criteria will be put in place for the registration of FIRs. He said the Safe City project will be further upgraded.
The Interior Minister said a proposal is being sent to the federal government for the recruitment of two thousand police personnel in Islamabad. He said this strength is also required to further enhance the security of Chinese nationals.
Mohsin Naqvi said the Public Facilitation Center will remain functional round the clock. He said this facilitation center is providing 28 services including those related to excise and traffic.
Earlier, while talking to media men at the Parliament House Islamabad, the Interior Minister said an effective strategy is being worked out for the security of Chinese nationals in Pakistan.
He said additional measures are being taken on a war footing for the security of the Chinese nationals.
The Interior Minister said a decision will soon be taken to initiate an action against illegal Afghan nationals.
He said the extension of three months has been given to the cardholder Afghans.
Mohsin Naqvi said we desire to provide an arrival visa facility to the Sikhs.
