President Asif Ali Zardari said that some forces did not want stability in Balochistan and the country.
President Asif Ali Zardari was briefed on the law and order situation in, Balochistan and ongoing development projects in the province. He chaired a meeting in Quetta.
Addressing the meeting, the President said that there is a close relationship between terrorism and drug trafficking.
Zardari said trafficking is harmful to the country's economy, its remedy is necessary for economic stability, and an effective strategy should be adopted for the employment of the people of the border areas.
Asif Ali Zardari said that law enforcement agencies should continue operations against terrorism.
He said the government was fully aware of the backwardness of Balochistan and the economic challenges of the people.
In the meeting, it was also decided to start consultation to adopt a unified national narrative against terrorism.
The President said that the timely release of funds allocated by the federation is indispensable to end the backwardness of Balochistan and funds can be released on a priority basis to a few selected projects for the public interest.

Asif Ali Zardari said possibilities of outsourcing of Kachchi Canal should be considered and the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) system should also be considered for the completion of the projects.
The President further said that the water shortage crisis should be solved to make Balochistan's land arable.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Balochistan Governor Sheikh Jafar Khan Mandokhil, Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, provincial ministers, and high federal and provincial officials participated in the meeting.
