PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat has explicitly voiced his discontent and raised several controversial issues pertaining to the party's leadership and internal affairs.
Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, Marwat highlighted that he had been trying to meet with PTI Founder Imran Khan but was told by the jail superintendent that he would be holding a private meeting with the former prime minister. But, he added, he was not being allowed to meet the party leader, and blamed former ministers Shibli Faraz and Omar Ayub for obstructing the meeting.
He claimed that Shibli Faraz had said that the PML-N would not accept it if Marwat was given the post of the PAC chairman. "My own people are pulling my legs. Consider me out of this race, don't make me the chairman," he insisted. He further said that the PTI had become a dead horse, but he elevated it from Sindh to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The PTI firebrand said he had informed Imran Khan about the leg-pulling within the party, adding that he had been sidelined by certain leaders after the February 8 elections. He stressed that he could not tolerate being disrespected.
Marwat then mentioned the various dates he had been given for a meeting with Imran Khan in Adiala Jail, which kept being changed. He also mentioned how he had not been allowed to hold protest rallies in Lahore, and announced to distance himself from the arrangements of these rallies.
The lawyer said if Imran Khan asked him to resign from his National Assembly seat, he would do so immediately. He announced that he refused to work with the leaders he mentioned, adding that he did not give anyone the right to disrespect him. "No one has the guts to say anything to me," he thundered, and said he now wanted these people to lead the party.
