Justice Muneeb Akhtar has been sworn in as the acting chief justice of Pakistan after CJP Qazi Faez Isa proceeded abroad for a conference. Justice Yahya Afridi took an oath from Justice Akhtar.
According to details, Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa will remain out of country from May 18 to 25. Due to his foreign visit, Justice Akhtar took the oath of acting chief justice.
Supreme Court judges and senior lawyers participated in the swearing-in ceremony.
It should be noted that CJP Isa is travelling to Azerbaijan today, where he will participate in the Conference of Chief Justices of ECO countries.
It is worth mentioning that Justice Mansoor Ali Shah is the most senior judge of the Supreme Court after the CJP, but he has also gone abroad, which is why Justice Akhtar took oath of acting CJP.
