Pakistan continues to experience a severe heat wave, particularly in the plains of Punjab and Sindh. The Met Department has reported that temperatures in Dadu and Mohenjodaro in Sindh are expected to reach a scorching 50 degrees Celsius.
Major cities are also experiencing extreme heat, with Lahore recording temperatures of 42 degrees Celsius, Karachi at 34 degrees, and Islamabad likely to reach 41 degrees, according to a spokesperson from the Met Department. The spokesperson further noted that the weather will remain hot and dry in other parts of the country.
In contrast, the weather in Karachi is expected to remain hot and humid today, with sea winds providing some relief throughout the day.

However, there is some respite expected in the form of rain in certain areas. The Met Department predicts rainfall at a few locations in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Potohar region, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir. These showers could provide temporary relief from the oppressive heat.
The current heat wave is the second spell to hit the country, and forecasts indicate a potential third wave in June. Mahr Sahibzad Khan, director of the Met department in Lahore, highlighted the micro-impacts of the heat wave, noting that smaller towns and cities might experience even more intense conditions.
Meteorologists have suggested that precautionary measures should be taken everywhere, be it in cities or villages. "The temperature is likely to rise further in Sindh, Punjab, and Islamabad," Khan stated. "In some areas, the temperature may reach 50 degrees."
