The matriculation examinations in Karachi have resumed on Wednesday. However, the return to examination halls has brought to light a host of issues that continue to plague the education system.
As students across the city gear up to sit for their exams, they are confronted with the harsh reality of having to endure sweltering temperatures inside examination centres. With the mercury soaring, the heat is proving to be an obstacle for students attempting to concentrate on their papers.

The situation is exacerbated by reports emerging from various examination centres, such as Jacob Line, where students are grappling with power outages and malfunctioning fans. The students have voiced their concerns, highlighting the immense difficulty of sitting the exams under such conditions.
Many have expressed frustration and disappointment at the apparent lack of foresight and preparation on the part of the authorities responsible for organizing the examinations.

On May 20, in response to the severe heatwave alert in Sindh, the Board of Secondary Education in Karachi announced the postponement of the ongoing matriculation exams. The exams, initially scheduled between May 21 and 27, were deferred to ensure the safety and well-being of the students.
The decision to postpone the exams was made following directives from the minister of education boards, who emphasized the importance of protecting students from the extreme heat conditions.
