The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has initiated an inquiry into the issuance of Pakistani identity cards to Afghan citizens.
The FIA has specifically requested details concerning six Pakistani identity cards issued by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA). This investigation seeks to uncover the officials responsible for processing these ID cards, including those who verified the forms.
The issue surfaced when an Afghan national, identified as Zardad, was found to have been issued a Pakistani identity card under the name Hibbullah. This revelation has led to the arrest of Mohibullah, another Afghan national, who was attempting to obtain a passport using a fake identity card.
The FIA is demanding the full records and relevant details of the ID cards, which also include those of Mohibullah’s alleged mother, Ameeran Bibi, and three other individuals. The Director of Operations at NADRA has been instructed to provide the necessary documentation and cooperate fully with the investigation.
FIA officials have confirmed that they have received some of the required records from NADRA. This move is part of a broader effort to address the misuse of Pakistani identity cards by foreign nationals and to ensure that the processes within NADRA are transparent and secure.
