On Saturday, the Meta-owned photo sharing app, Instagram, was down for several minutes, rendering thousands of users unable to use the platform.
According to Downdetector, a website that monitors user reports of internet disruptions, more than 6,000 users in India reported issues with accessing the platform during the peak of outage at approximately 12:08pm today.
Among these complaints, 57% pertain to Instagram's feed, 33% of users reported issues with accessing the application, and 10% of users reported encountering server connection issues.
Several users took to social media platform X to vent their frustration, as they were unable to login to the app. Many complained that Instagram's short-video platform Reels was failing to load and began displaying error messages.
Using the hashtag #InstagramDown on X, they shared the difficulties they encountered while viewing Insta Reels. According to Instagram users, they were unable to watch Instagram Reels. Instead, the feed page displayed images of cars and natural scenes. Meta has not confirmed or denied the Instagram outage.
The cause of the outage is unknown, and there is no official statement from Instagram yet.
