The federal government has approved an increase in electricity prices for commercial, agricultural, and large consumers.
New rates include an Rs 8 per unit hike for commercial consumers, Rs 6.5 for the agricultural sector, and Rs 5.5 per unit for large consumers.
The tariff for commercial consumers will rise by Rs 8.04 per unit, bringing the new rate to Rs 77.15 per unit starting in July.

For agricultural consumers, the basic tariff will increase by Rs 6.62 per unit, resulting in a new rate of Rs 46.83 per unit. General services will see a hike of Rs 6.98 per unit, with the new tariff set at Rs 61.03 per unit.
Large consumers will experience an increase of Rs 5.51 per unit, making their new rate Rs 59.96 per unit as the government has decided to maintain the existing basic electricity tariff for industrial consumers.
Power Division has informed NEPRA about the Federal Cabinet's decision.
