PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has announced that justice has prevailed as the Islamabad court acquitted former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, in the iddat nikah case.
"Right and justice have won today," Barrister Gohar declared, congratulating the judiciary for its decision, which he sees as a testament to the independence and strength of Pakistan's judicial system.
An Islamabad court, led by Additional Sessions Judge Afzal Majoka, dismissed the charges against the former prime minister and his wife, a decision that has been hailed as a triumph for the rule of law and the constitution. “Imran Khan says thee should be rule of law and supremacy of the Constitution,” Gohar emphasized.
He further claimed that the world has seen today that Imran Khan was being pressurised in the case so he could be compromised.

Barrister Gohar said he met with Imran Khan at Adiala Jail, where he found the former prime minister in high spirits. "Imran Khan is very happy with yesterday's decision," he reported. Gohar described the victory as not just personal for Imran Khan, but as a win for the entire nation. “Today's victory is the nation's victory,” he proclaimed.
Reflecting on the case, Gohar criticized its basis, stating, "It was a case that had no basis." He expressed relief that justice had been served and that the charges, which he deemed unfounded, were dismissed. Additionally, Gohar noted that Bushra Bibi has been granted bail in the remaining cases against her.
He said Imran Khan had two cases against him, but now looks forward to his release. "InshaAllah, the PTI founder will be released today," Gohar stated confidently, adding that Imran Khan will be welcomed by the entire nation upon his release.
An Islamabad court has acquitted former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the iddat nikah case and also issued their release orders.
Additional Sessions Judge Afzal Majoka admitted the appeals and pronounced his reserved verdict. With the appeals admitted, the decision of the trial court was set aside.
Civil Judge Qudratullah had sentenced the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi each to seven years in jail and a fine of Rs500,000. Additional and Sessions Judge Afzal Majoka had reserved the judgment on the central appeals earlier in the day.
The judge also issued the release orders for both husband and wife. Main complainant Khawar Maneka's medical board application was also dismissed.
Both applications of the prosecution have been rejected. "If he is not required in any other case, the PTI founder should be released," the court ordered.
