The deteriorating law and order situation in Bangladesh has caused heightened concern among Pakistani parents whose children are studying in various institutions there.
With the disconnection of these students, the anxious parents have written a letter to Sara Aslam, Additional Secretary to the Prime Minister, seeking the safe return of their children.
In the letter, the parents expressed their grave concerns regarding the well-being of their children, who are enrolled in different medical colleges in Bangladesh under the SAARC quota.
They highlighted that the worsening situation has led the Bangladeshi government to impose a curfew across the country, with Dhaka being particularly affected. This has resulted in the expulsion of local students from hostels, leaving the Pakistani students confined within their hostel premises.
The letter further emphasised the parents' fears of a potential food shortage for their children due to the stringent curfew. They urged the government to not only ensure the swift and safe return of all Pakistani students but also to arrange for the provision of essential food and drink items in the interim.
The parents appealed to the High Commissioner to maintain contact with security personnel in Bangladesh to ensure the protection of Pakistani students. They also underscored the importance of restoring communication with the students to alleviate the families' growing worries.
"The lack of contact with our children is deeply troubling for all the families involved," the letter stated. "We request that immediate steps be taken to ensure communication with the students for the peace of mind of their parents."
The letter concluded with a strong plea for the government's urgent intervention to address the crisis and bring the stranded students back home safely.
The law and order situation in Bangladesh continues to decline, causing severe distress among Pakistani parents whose children are studying in the country. Following the breakdown in communication with their children, parents have made a desperate appeal to the Prime Minister's office, urging for the immediate and secure return of their children.
The curfew imposed in response to the escalating violence has compounded the students' predicament, leading to their isolation within hostels and raising fears of food shortages. Pakistani parents are calling for urgent governmental action to ensure their children's safety and well-being during this tumultuous period.
