The Government of Pakistan has initiated a significant crackdown on smuggling to revive the national economy. From July 14 to 21, authorities confiscated 2.22 metric tons of sugar, 3.75 metric tons of fertilizer, 64 metric tons of flour, 516 cigarette stocks, 84 cloth rolls, and 0.057 million liters of Iranian oil across the country.
Officials seized 283 cigarette stocks from Quetta and 233 from Karachi. 0.62 metric tons of sugar were confiscated from Peshawar and 1.6 metric tons from Quetta. Karachi yielded 84 cloth rolls, Multan 64 metric tons of flour, and Quetta 3.75 metric tons of fertilizer.
Since September 1, 2023, the government has seized a total of 3,248.75 metric tons of fertilizer, 361.436 metric tons of flour, 34,731.29 metric tons of sugar, 316,850 cigarette stocks, 149,710 cloth rolls, and 6.919 million liters of Iranian oil.
Government agencies remain committed to continuing their anti-smuggling operations to help the country overcome economic challenges.
