Bangladesh Army Chief Wakar uz Zaman held a press conference and said that the Army would decide the future matters of the country and the Army would hold talks with the political parties to form an interim government in the wake of Sheikh Hasina Wazed's resignation confirmation news.
"There is a crisis in the country. I have met Opposition leaders and we have decided to form an interim government to run this country. I take all responsibility and promise to protect your life and property. Your demands will be fulfilled. Please support us and stop violence. If you work with us, we can move towards a proper solution. We cannot achieve anything through violence," he said.
In a critical address to the nation, the Bangladesh Army Chief has pledged to find a solution to the ongoing political crisis by tonight. Emphasizing the need for stability, he assured citizens that there was no need for a curfew or a state of emergency.
He announced to form of an interim government. The Army Chief announced plans to establish an interim government to navigate the country through this turbulent period.
He called for trust and said citizens have been urged to place their trust in the army as it works to restore peace and order
The Army Chief assured that peace would be brought back to the country and all recent deaths will be thoroughly investigated.
The Army Chief confirmed that he will meet with the President to discuss the formation of the interim government.
