Punjab government has initiated the reorganization of District Peace Committees to improve inter-regional coordination across the province.
Punjab Chief Minister has given his approval for the reconstitution of these committees, which were last formed in 2018.
Punjab Home Department has issued a directive to all deputy commissioners, instructing them to issue notifications for the new peace committees within two weeks.
The reconstitution process will involve representation from all areas, ensuring a diverse and inclusive membership.
Given that many of the previous office bearers have either passed away or are now too weak to continue their duties, the District Intelligence Committees will be consulted before finalizing the nominations for new members.
The measure aims to strengthen the effectiveness of the peace committees in maintaining harmony and coordination across Punjab.
