Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif Thursday launched Punjba’s largest and first school nutrition program in the government primary school MC-1 in Dera Ghazi Khan (DI Khan).
Maryam Nawaz Sharif met with students and handed over them milk packets to the school children.
The CM herself distributed the milk cartons among the students and made sure that packets which were supposed to be taken to schools were consumed by students under her supervision. She also socialized with the students requesting for their names and even congratulating the students.
She also enquired if there is any problem the children and young adults encountered in their class work?
During the interaction with the classes, one of the students looked upset and said that his father did not have a job, after this, the Chief Minister ordered to try to find a job for the fathers of the student.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat briefed the chief minister on the school nutrition program which is being launched as a pilot project in three districts of Southern Punjab — DG Khan, Rajanpur and Muzaffargarh.
The project aim to target four lakh students affected by food insecurity by providing them with nutritious milk.
As per project details, each student across 3,527 Schools in Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur and Muzaffargarh will be given a daily packet of 175 ml milk.
Students will be taking the empty cartons back to their respective schools and the money earned from the recycling will be used on the schools.
On the occasion, students clicked pictures with chief minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and took her autograph.
Maryam Nawaz was welcomed by Border Military Police upon arrival at DG Khan Commissioner’s Office.Provincial Minister for Information and Culture Azma Zahid Bukhari, Provincial Minister for Education Rana Sikandar Hayat, MPA’s Saniya Ashiq, Nosheen Adnan, Sher Ali Gorchani, Special Assistant, Zeeshan Malik, Chief Secretary Zahid Akhter Zaman, Secretary Schools, Commissioner, RPO and other dignitaries were also present.
