Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa had recorded its fifth case of the mpox virus on Wednesday.
To confirm the development, Qasim Ali Shah, the provincial minister of health, published a video message. He said the latest occurrence occured when the patient landed at the Islamabad International Airport on September 7.
Then he traveled to Peshawar, where he checked into a hotel before going to a private clinic for treatment.
After arriving, the patient had little interaction with anyone before being placed in quarantine at his Lower Dir house. Other than the people on his trip, he did not meet any relatives or engage in any meaningful discussions.
The minister stated, "The patient has been quarantined at his house in Lower Dir," and mentioned that he had not seen any family since coming from Saudi Arabia.
The Lower Dir district health officer (DHO) is keep observing the patient.
Shah stated, "The patient's symptoms are improving; his family members have been informed of the infection's spread."
Shah expressed concern about the mpox patient leaving the biggest airport without getting inspected. “There must be so many patients that leave the Islamabad airport every day and go elsewhere in the country”.
In order to prevent such incidents of this kind, he urged the federal government to enhance its screening procedure.
