On the occasion of International Democracy Day, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif reiterated their unwavering resolve to uphold democratic principles and values.
In a message, the premier emphasized that democracy forms the cornerstone of a just and progressive society, calling for continued efforts to strengthen it.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif reaffirmed his government's commitment to safeguarding the constitution, rule of law, and human rights.
"Our determination to protect the constitution, democracy, rule of law, and human rights is unwavering," he said. He further stressed that the implementation of democratic values reflects the nation’s collective behavior.
Sharif also urged for cooperation in establishing a more fair, equal, and inclusive global society. "We resolve today to continue our efforts to establish a just and inclusive global society," he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz PML-N Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz highlighted that democracy is not merely a form of government, but a philosophy rooted in people's power, rights, and service. "Democracy empowers the people to make their own decisions through their representatives," she said, adding that the system of democracy paves the way forward for a nation's progress.
Maryam Nawaz further emphasized that democracy is the guarantor of social justice and a means to public prosperity. "The development and prosperity of the country comes only with the stability of democracy," she noted.
