Pakistani social entrepreneur Zain Ashraf Mughal received the Global Islamic Finance Award (GIFA) 2024 at a ceremony held in the Maldives.
Zain Ashraf, who previously won the Commonwealth Award and was included in Forbes’ Under 30 list, has been lauded for his work in empowering marginalised communities.
Through his entrepreneurial initiatives, over 6,000 children have been sent to school, and 3,000 individuals, including members of minority communities and eunuchs, have been assisted in becoming entrepreneurs.
The GIFA Award is a global honour that has been previously conferred upon world leaders such as former Pakistani President Arif Alvi and ex-Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz.
This year, Zain Ashraf became the first Pakistani social entrepreneur to join this distinguished list.
In his acceptance speech, Zain expressed his resolve to continue bringing recognition to Pakistan through social entrepreneurship. “This is just the beginning,” he remarked, “I am committed to further contributing to Pakistan’s growth by helping the underserved become self-sufficient.”
