The Ministry of Hajj has issued essential guidelines for pilgrims to ensure their safety and well-being as the Umrah season continues in Saudi Arabia.
According to details, the ministry highlighted the importance of physical preparation, especially foot care, to help pilgrims perform the Umrah rituals with ease at the Grand Mosque in Makkah.
Authorities have urged pilgrims to avoid walking barefoot over long distances, recommending the use of comfortable footwear in non-prayer courtyards. They also advised taking breaks when feeling fatigued, noting that proper rest and physical readiness can help reduce the risk of exhaustion during the pilgrimage.
The ministry also emphasized the importance of avoiding heavy meals and staying hydrated throughout the pilgrimage. Adequate rest, along with the consumption of sufficient liquids, are key measures to ensure the body remains energized for the Umrah rites.
The current Umrah season began in late June, following the annual Hajj pilgrimage, which saw the participation of around 1.8 million Muslims from across the globe. Last year, around 13.5 million Muslims performed Umrah, and Saudi Arabia aims to welcome 15 million pilgrims next year.
In a bid to accommodate more pilgrims, Saudi authorities have introduced several new facilities, including extending the Umrah visa duration from 30 days to 90 days. Visa holders can now enter the kingdom via all land, air, and sea outlets and exit from any airport. Additionally, female pilgrims are no longer required to have a male guardian accompany them, further simplifying the process.
Muslims with various types of entry visas, such as personal, visit, or tourism visas, are now eligible to perform Umrah and visit Al Rawda Al Sharifa, the sacred chamber containing the tomb of Prophet Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him) at the Prophet's Mosque in Medina. E-appointments are necessary for these visits. Saudi citizens can also invite their friends from abroad to undertake the pilgrimage.
These changes reflect Saudi Arabia’s commitment to enhancing the pilgrimage experience for Muslims worldwide, encouraging more visitors to perform Umrah with ease and comfort.
