WhatsApp has rolled out a new set of features that enhance user interaction with stories and status updates. The popular messaging app now allows users to tag others in their stories or statuses, enabling closer connections with friends and family.
According to WhatsApp, users can mention their contacts in stories, with the tagged individual receiving a notification about the mention. Additionally, the person tagged has the option to re-share the story, adding a new level of engagement to status updates.
In another exciting development, WhatsApp has introduced a like feature for stories. Previously, users could only see the number of views a story received, but now they can like it—similar to how users interact with posts on Facebook. However, unlike other social platforms, WhatsApp has made likes and reactions to stories private. Only the person who posted the story will be able to see who liked it, maintaining user privacy.
Moreover, third parties will not have visibility into who has been mentioned or liked a story, keeping interactions discreet. While the feature has already been launched, WhatsApp noted that it might not be available to all users immediately, but access will be expanded in the coming days.
WhatsApp has also hinted at more updates to the stories and status tab in the coming months, aiming to help users stay connected with the important people in their lives.
This update is expected to bring new ways for users to share, connect, and interact within the platform's popular stories feature.
