Pakistan People's Party (PPP) has presented a draft for a proposed constitutional amendment, with significant changes aimed at reforming the judicial appointment process.
According to the draft, the PPP has proposed the establishment of a Constitutional Commission to oversee the appointments of judges, ensuring greater transparency and accountability.
The proposed amendments include changes to Article 175A of the Constitution, which would allow for the creation of both federal and provincial constitutional courts. These courts, under the draft, would be referred to as the Supreme Constitutional Court.
The PPP suggests the inclusion of several key figures in the Constitutional Commission, including the Chief Justice, two senior judges from the Constitutional Court, the Federal Minister of Law, the Attorney General, and representatives from the Pakistan Bar Council.
