Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan, the Information Secretary of the newly registered Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), on Saturday underlined the party’s commitment to stabilising the country’s volatile political landscape.
Addressing a press conference in Lahore, she highlighted the need for a shift away from empty political slogans that have characterised politics in Pakistan’s four provinces and Gilgit-Baltistan. She expressed hope that her party would usher in a new era of politics marked by substantive policies and meaningful service delivery programs for the people.
Dr. Awan announced that the IPP would begin its mass contact campaign on October 13, engaging with the public through workers’ conventions and gatherings.
She emphasized the party's dedication to realizing Allama Iqbal's dreams and its determination to lead Pakistan towards stability, development, and prosperity. The party's manifesto, she stated, prioritizes the well-being of Pakistan and its people.
The IPP Information Secretary of said that the party will respect the voter and ensure the protection of the voter’s fundamental rights. The party also supports the measures taken by the Special Investment Facilitation Council to promote economic growth and development.
She also called for strict action against those involved in selling Pakistani identity cards and documents to illegal immigrants, particularly Afghan nationals, in exchange for money. She pointed out the security risks associated with such practices and urged swift measures to address this issue.
In her remarks, Dr. Awan criticized Nawaz Sharif and referred to his return on October 21, suggesting that the media's attention to health reports was akin to sensationalism.
Dr. Awan said that IPP will fight all parties on the political front, and that new constituencies are necessary. She also criticized Usman Dar of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), saying that he wiped out PTI from Sialkot and did not remove one seat of the National Assembly from Sialkot. She said that the Dar family is playing a double wicket tournament and that people should be wary of them.
