Authorities have made substantial progress in their ongoing campaign against drug trafficking, according to recent reports. The nationwide operation, which began in September 2023, has resulted in the confiscation of 1,053.633 metric tons of various narcotics and the apprehension of 2,076 drug dealers.
Law enforcement agencies across the country have seized a diverse range of illegal substances. The haul includes 3.857 kilograms of heroin, 50.086 kilograms of hashish, 4.711 kilograms of methamphetamine, 9.631 kilograms of opium, and 985.348 kilograms of other illicit drugs.
In October alone, security forces conducted successful raids in multiple regions. Balochistan saw the seizure of 60 kilograms of narcotics, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan yielded 45.76 and 93.08 kilograms, respectively. Punjab and Sindh also contributed to the effort, with 48.69 and 27.95 kilograms of drugs confiscated in each province.
The operation, a joint initiative by the government and military leadership, aims to combat the drug epidemic plaguing the nation. Relevant agencies have expressed their commitment to continuing these efforts until the country is completely free from the scourge of narcotics.
