In a recent hearing regarding Fawzia Siddiqui's application for recovery and repatriation of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, the Islamabad High Court was informed that the government plans to send a delegation to the United States.
The Additional Attorney General announced this development, emphasizing the government's commitment to addressing Dr. Siddiqui's situation.
The delegation will include a diverse group comprising former and current parliamentarians, senators, retired and serving military officers, doctors, and Dr. Fawzia Siddiqui herself. Additionally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has shared a proposal for a Prisoner Transfer Agreement with the United States, which was discussed in court.
Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq questioned the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs about the timeline for a response regarding the Prisoner Transfer Agreement, to which the representative indicated that an answer could come soon.
Dr. Fawzia Siddiqui has also requested that Aafia Siddiqui undergo a medical check-up.
A court assistant, Zainab Janjua, mentioned that the Prime Minister has approved the delegation's trip to the U.S. Furthermore, Dr. Fawzia and her family have requested that medical professionals be sent from Pakistan for Aafia Siddiqui.
The Islamabad High Court adjourned the hearing.
