Pakistan's battle against polio remains unresolved as three more cases have been confirmed, bringing the total number of children infected with the virus this year to 55.
The latest cases have been reported from Dera Ismail Khan, Zhob, and Jaffarabad. According to official statistics, Dera Ismail Khan has recorded six cases this year, Zhob three, and Jaffarabad two.
A provincial breakdown reveals that Balochistan remains the most affected, with 26 reported cases, followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 14 cases. Sindh has reported 13 cases, while Punjab and Islamabad each have one confirmed case.
The persistent spread of the virus highlights gaps in immunization coverage and challenges in reaching vulnerable communities. Health officials are calling for intensified vaccination drives and increased public awareness to eliminate polio from the country.
