In a conversation with Variety, the Duffer Brothers debunked rumours that the final season will arrive this year, clarifying that post-production will extend into 2025.
Why the delay?
Although filming for the final season has recently wrapped, the creators emphasized that the extensive visual effects work will take a significant part of 2025.
- Matt Duffer stated, _“Right now, we’re just cutting all the visual effects sequences for the show so they can get started on those so that they can be running in time for a release.”_
- When pressed about a release window, he added, _“A lot of it hasn’t been decided in terms of exact dates and cadence.”_
- Ross Duffer reassured fans, _“We’re working as fast as we possibly can … now it’s just sort of climbing up another hill as we head towards finally finishing this.”_
