The Special Services Group (SSG) of the Pakistan Navy on Sunday demonstrated its exceptional combat readiness during the ongoing Aman 2025 naval exercise.
The biennial Aman exercise, hosted by the Pakistan Navy, has brought together over 60 countries in Karachi to enhance maritime security cooperation.
With a focus on counterterrorism, anti-piracy, and joint operational drills, Aman 2025 aims to foster global collaboration in securing vital sea lanes.
‘We operate in every medium’
Lt. Commander Zarar in an exclusive conversation with Samaa Digital’s Senior Journalist Asim Siddique emphasised that the Navy’s SSG is unique due to its ability to operate across multiple terrains—sea, air, and land.
“We function in the air as efficiently as any special force in the world. Our expertise extends to sea, sub-sea, and land operations. Every soldier or officer who completes our training is fully capable of executing these missions,” he told Samaa Digital.
Addressing the question of endurance, he noted that a Navy commando could keep swimming as long as he has life in him. “Our training eliminates the fear of water. As long as a commando can breathe, he will continue swimming,” he added.
Real-world combat experience
Highlighting Pakistan’s extensive engagement in counterterrorism and military operations, Lt. Commander Zarar stated that the Navy’s SSG is recognized internationally for its battle-hardened expertise.
“We do not just train—we participate in live missions. Our experience in real-world warfare is significant, which is why foreign countries consider us an epitome of perfection. Many international officers and soldiers undergo training with us,” he revealed.
‘There is no coming back if the mission Is not complete’
The lieutenant commander reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of Pakistan’s special forces.
“Only those who are exceptionally brave join the SSG. Our motto is clear—there is no coming back if the mission is not complete. Every operation we have undertaken has been successfully accomplished, with minimal attrition and the safe repatriation of our team,” he told Samaa Digital.
A message to Pakistan
Concluding the conversation, Lt. Commander Zarar reassured the public of the armed forces’ readiness.
“Pakistan’s geographical boundaries are in safe hands. The armed forces are always prepared, and we have full confidence in this, InshaAllah,” he said.
International Participation in Aman 2025
The Aman 2025 exercise, now in its ninth edition, serves as a key platform for international naval cooperation. The opening ceremony at the Pakistan Navy Dockyard saw the flags of participating nations—including Jordan and Saudi Arabia—raised alongside Pakistan’s green and white standard.
Rear Admiral Abdul Munib, Commander of the Pakistan Fleet, highlighted the significance of joint operations in maintaining regional and global maritime security.
The Aman series, initiated in 2007, has evolved into one of the region’s most significant naval exercises, focusing on counter-piracy, disaster response, and multinational interoperability.
