Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is set to expel Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Sher Afzal Marwat from the party, sources revealed on Monday.
According to sources, PTI's founder has instructed senior party leaders to revoke Marwat’s basic membership. A formal notification regarding his termination is expected to be issued soon.
Furthermore, Sher Afzal Marwat will be asked to resign from his National Assembly seat following the revocation of his party membership, sources added.
The decision reportedly follows complaints from PTI leaders regarding Marwat’s role in the recent Swabi rally. Party members had raised concerns with the founder, prompting action against the MNA.
Later in the day, PTI Chairman Gohar Ali Khan told the media he had not received any instructions regarding the expulsion of Sher Afzal Marwat.
"I immediately follow the instructions of the PTI founding chairman as soon as I receive them; there is no second opinion on it," he remarked, adding that this was an internal matter of party and it would deal with it. "There is a procedure for this too."
