The ongoing heatwave in the metropolis is expected to continue for the next two days, with temperatures likely to remain high, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
As summer conditions set in, Karachi recorded a maximum temperature of 36 degrees Celsius on Monday. However, the Met Office has warned that the mercury could climb further, touching 38 degrees Celsius under intense sunlight.
A spokesperson for the PMD stated that while light sea breezes would persist, the city's weather will remain hot over the next couple of days. A change in conditions is expected after March 12, which could bring an increase in wind speed, potentially providing some relief.
On Wednesday, the temperature is forecast to hover around 35 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, no rainfall is expected in the city for the next 10 to 15 days, the Met Office added.
Karachi has been experiencing prolonged dry and warm weather since the onset of March, with experts attributing the high temperatures to seasonal changes and weak sea breezes. Authorities have urged citizens to take necessary precautions, including staying hydrated and avoiding direct exposure to the sun during peak hours.
