Fans of Yash Raj Films’ Spy Universe have a new date to mark on their calendars—War 2 is officially set to hit theatres worldwide on August 14, 2025.
The highly anticipated sequel to the 2019 action blockbuster will be directed by Ayan Mukerji and will see Hrithik Roshan reprising his role from the first film.
Confirming the release, YRF shared an unofficial promotional asset on X (formerly Twitter) with the message:
"Must say… you have set it up brilliantly even before we have started our marketing of #War2… there will be mayhem in cinemas on 14 August 2025, worldwide…"
Alongside Hrithik Roshan, the film features Telugu superstar Jr NTR and Bollywood’s Kiara Advani in key roles, making it one of the most anticipated cross-industry collaborations.
The YRF Spy Universe began in 2012 with Ek Tha Tiger, starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, and has since grown into one of India’s biggest film franchises. The success of Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), War (2019), Pathaan (2023), and Tiger 3 (2023) has paved the way for multiple upcoming projects.
Alongside War 2, YRF is developing Pathaan 2 with Shah Rukh Khan, Tiger vs Pathaan featuring Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, and Alpha, the first female-led film in the franchise starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari.
