New Zealand’s young batting sensation, Mohammad Abbas, made history in his debut ODI by scoring the fastest half-century against Pakistan. The 21-year-old reached his fifty in just 24 balls during the first match of the three-game ODI series in Napier.
Abbas showcased an aggressive approach, smashing three sixes and three fours to bring up his maiden ODI half-century. Batting at No. 6, he eventually scored 52 off 26 balls before being dismissed.
His father, former Pakistan first-class cricketer Azhar Abbas, expressed his pride in his son’s achievement. Present at the stadium to witness the debut, Azhar said, “I feel extremely proud today. It’s a special moment to see my son make his debut against Pakistan.” He further added that he believes Mohammad Abbas will go on to have a successful career for New Zealand.
With this stunning knock, Abbas has made an immediate impact in international cricket, marking his debut with an innings to remember.
