Four national athletes have tested positive for banned substances which has resulted in a three-year ban on them from competitions.
The athletes who have been banned include Azir Rehman, Naeem Akhtar, Rabia Ashiq, and Esha Imran.
The ban, which went into effect on July 20, 2023, is set to last until July 19, 2026.
This decision comes in the wake of doping violations that occurred during the 34th National Games organized by the Pakistan Athletics Federation.
As a result of this ban, all four athletes will be ineligible to participate in domestic, national, and international sports events during this period.
Earlier in July, Pakistan sports was shocked by another doping scandal as two female and three male athletes tested positive.
The authorities conducted 20 dope tests at the 34th National Games in Quetta in May and sent the samples to laboratories in Qatar.
All five athletes tested positive for the use of Anabolic Androgenic steroid that is commonly used by athletes through injections.
The athletes included Ehsha Rehman (100m), Rabia Ashiq (800 meters), Uzair Rehman (400m), Naeem Akhtar (100m sprint) and Mohammad Tahir (96 kg category weightlifter).
