The Karachi Traffic Police have announced a significant increase in traffic fines, effective from November 1, 2023.
In an official announcement posted on the Karachi Traffic Police's social media account, the new traffic fines have been unveiled, signaling a more stringent approach towards traffic violators.
Over-speeding
Motorcyclists caught overspeeding will now face a fine of Rs. 700, while the fine for car and jeep owners has been raised to Rs. 1,000.
Wrong-side driving
One of the most dangerous traffic violations, driving on the wrong side of the road, will result in severe penalties. Motorcyclists engaging in this risky behavior will face a Rs. 2,000 fine, while car owners will be slapped with a whopping Rs. 3,000 fine.
This substantial increase in fines serves as a deterrent to those who flout traffic laws, jeopardizing their safety and that of others.
Traffic signal violations
Disregarding traffic signals not only endangers lives but also disrupts the flow of traffic.
The fines for this violation have been raised to Rs. 500 for motorcyclists and Rs. 1,000 for car owners, reinforcing the importance of obeying traffic signals for the overall safety of commuters.

One-way road rules
Driving in the wrong direction on a one-way road poses a significant hazard to all road users. To discourage this dangerous practice, motorcyclists now face a fine of Rs. 2,000, while car owners will be subject to a substantial Rs. 5,000 fine.
This strict enforcement underscores the authorities' determination to ensure road safety and adherence to traffic regulations.
