Citizens of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and foreign nationals living abroad, including Pakistan, can now get Emirates ID cards from the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP).
For all citizens and residents of the United Arab Emirates, it is legally necessary to possess an Emirates ID, which they must always carry. Several governmental and public services are accessible with this ID card.
In the event of an expired Emirates ID card, individuals have a 30-day grace period from the date of expiry within which they can renew the card without incurring late fines. The renewal process is accessible through the ICP website, the ICP mobile app available on Google Play, App Store, and Huawei, or through authorised typing centres.
Additionally, some applicants may need to visit an ICP service centre to provide their biometric details.
For UAE nationals, the Emirates ID renewal window opens six months before the expiry date and extends until one month before the card's expiration. On the other hand, UAE residence visa holders can only apply for renewal when their residence visa is being renewed or reissued.
For Pakistani expatriates, the Emirates ID card renewal process incurs various fees, which include an AED 100 card issuance fee for a five-year validity period, AED 150 service fee, AED 30 typing centre fee, and an additional AED 150 for urgent service requests, which can be carried out at customer happiness centres.
This process not only ensures that the Emirates ID cards remain valid for individuals but also facilitates their access to the services and benefits that come with it, contributing to the smooth functioning of daily life in the UAE.
