Former PTI leader and federal minister Fawad Chaudhry has been handed over to the police on two-day physical remand.
Duty Magistrate Abbas Shah granted the two-day physical remand to the police. The court also directed the police to conduct a medical examination of Fawad Chaudhry.
The police had requested for five-day physical remand of the former minister, which was rejected.
A citizen named Zaheer had filed a case against Fawad in the Aabpara police station, accusing him of taking Rs5 million in bribe to get him a job. He further claimed that Fawad threatened to kill him on demanding the money back when he did not fulfil the promise.
According to the applicant, he met Fawad three years ago at Islamabad's Kohsar Market. On October 2021, he deposited Rs5 million with him for safekeeping. When he demanded the money back, Fawad Chaudhry offered to get jobs for his children.
The plaintiff further claimed that Fawad demanded Rs10 million to get jobs for his two children. When the PTI government was ousted, the applicant demanded his money back, at which Fawad tried to avoid him.

In a meeting six months ago, he claimed that Fawad and his guards had threatened to kill him.
Fawad Chaudhry embezzled money, so legal action should be taken against him, the plea reads.
Earlier, the former minister was brought to the court in an armoured personnel carrier. His wife and two brothers were also present in court.
Later, talking to the media, Fawad’s wife Hiba claimed they had not been informed which case he had been arrested in. It was only when they reached the court that they found out about the FIR filed against him.
“I can say on oath he did not do anything he is accused of,” she stressed.
