One Frontier Corps (FC) personnel embraced martyrdom while eight others sustained injuries after an explosion occurred near security forces' vehicle on Peshawar's Warsak road on Monday (today), Samaa TV reported.
According to the police, the blast is suspected to be an improvised explosive device (IED) detonation and occurred in close proximity to a vehicle belonging to the Frontier Corps (FC), resulting in injuries to several individuals, including six FC officials and three civilians.
As per authorities, a bomb disposal unit was sent to the site immediately, and the area has been cordoned off.
The injured were transferred to the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) for urgent medical attention.
The current situation at the hospital remains tense, with a state of emergency imposed to accommodate the influx of casualties.
According to Samaa's correspondent, four of the injured were fortunate enough to be discharged after receiving essential first aid. The remaining patients continue to undergo intensive treatment at LRH.
The Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) has also compiled and sent its report to the relevant authorities on the nature of the blast.
The report asserted that an estimated 5 kilograms high explosive material was used in the blast in order to cause maximum damage.
In the meantime, the law enforcement authorities have detained five individuals as suspects, and an ongoing investigation is being conducted.
Former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has vehemently denounced the incident, emphasizing that the nation's survival hinges upon eradicating the scourge of terrorism from our society.
"The sacrifices of our valiant soldiers and resilient people will not go in vain and such terrorist attacks cannot stop us from completely getting rid of the militants," he said.
Additionally, he offered his prayers for the swift recovery of the injured, underscoring the importance of unity and resilience in these challenging times.

Meanwhile, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the chief organizer of the Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PMLN), also condemned the Peshawar blast.
Expressing her deep sympathy for the injured and their families, Maryam Nawaz highlighted the unwavering determination of our courageous forces in their battle against terrorism.
In a pledge of determination, Maryam Nawaz asserted that terrorism would be eradicated, and she prayed fervently for the speedy recovery of those who had been harmed by this “senseless act of violence”.
