India's military court released the killers of three innocent Kashmiris reiterating the narrative that the Indian establishment is against the Kashmiri freedom struggle and the legal cover is being provided by Indian courts.
In March 2023, an Indian court sentenced Captain Bhupinder Singh to death for the murder of three Kashmiri youths. On November 13, the Armed Tribunal Forces not only overturned the death sentence against Captain Bhupinder—citing insufficient evidence, but also released him.
As per the NDTV, Captain Bhupinder Singh martyred three Kashmiri youths in a fake encounter in Amshipora on 18 July 2020.
The Wire and Al Jazeera reported said that all three Kashmiris killed were actually innocent laborers from Occupied Kashmir and found innocent in the civil court and Captain Bhupinder Singh was found guilty of murder.
Also in March 2000, the Indian Army killed five innocent Kashmiris in a similar fake encounter in Anantnag and then portrayed them as terrorists.
Bloomberg said that in April 2023, Indian troops martyred three Kashmiris in a fake encounter in Bata Karamchal sector as terrorists.
Five Indian soldiers were sentenced to death by the court for the fake encounter while Indian military court overturned the verdict and released all five convicts.
Amnesty International said that hundreds of thousands of innocent Kashmiris are killed in fake encounters every year in Occupied Kashmir.
“Every year, more than 50 Kashmiris are killed by Indian troops in fake encounters,” the Human Rights Watch (HRW) said.
