Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is confirmed to visit Russia soon.
This visit follows speculation that Kim may meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss potential weapon supplies for Moscow's involvement in the conflict in Ukraine.
The international media reported that the exact date and location of the meeting have been not disclosed by the Kremlin.
Reports suggested that Kim was en route to Russia.
There had been indications that the meeting could take place in Vladivostok, a far-eastern Russian city, possibly on a university campus.
President Putin arrived in Vladivostok for the annual Eastern Economic Forum.
Re European Union denounced the recent local elections held in parts of Ukraine annexed by Russia as "illegitimate”. These elections, viewed as fraudulent by the international community, aimed to legitimize Russian influence in the invaded Ukrainian regions. Russia's ruling United Russia party unsurprisingly dominated the election results.
Putin enjoys substantial public support
Regarding Russia's domestic politics, Kremlin spokesperson Peskov stated that President Putin enjoys substantial public support and implied that he would be unbeatable if he decides to seek reelection in 2024, which would mark his fifth term as president.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, pointed out that Russia's withdrawal from the Black Sea Grain Initiative and its subsequent disruption of Ukrainian ports were contributing to global food insecurity. Turk warned that nearly 600 million people could face chronic undernourishment by 2030, with hunger levels returning to 2005 levels.
In Ukraine, there were reports of incremental progress in the eastern part of the country. Ukrainian officials claimed some successes near the airport of Donetsk, a city controlled by Russia.
